What Happened?
Apple (AAPL) stock got a positive mention on Monday after Loop Capital reiterated its Buy rating and $325 price target on the company.
The catalyst is Apple’s new MacBook Neo, the company’s most affordable laptop ever, starting at just $599. That’s nearly half the price of the MacBook Air M5 and a fraction of the cost of higher-end models.
Loop Capital sees the Neo as a meaningful driver of volume. The firm is modeling around 3 million Neo units sold in 2026 as a starting point. That’s a new category of buyer Apple hasn’t fully reached before, people who want a Mac but couldn’t justify the price of existing models.
The catch is margins.
- A $599 laptop naturally carries a lower gross margin than Apple’s premium products.
- Loop Capital expects product gross margin to compress from 40.7% in the December quarter to around 33%-34% in the June quarter, then recover to 35% by September.
- That’s a meaningful step down from where Apple has been running.
Apple stock has had a tough start to the year, down nearly 5% year-to-date. But the underlying business remains strong.
In its most recent quarter,
- Apple reported record revenue of $143.8 billion, up 16% year-over-year.
- iPhone revenue alone hit $85.3 billion, growing 23%.
- Services set an all-time record at $30 billion.
- EPS of $2.84 was also a record, up 19%.

The company is also in the middle of a strong iPhone cycle.
- Greater China grew 38% year-over-year in the December quarter.
- The installed base of active devices crossed 2.5 billion for the first time.
- Management guided to 13%-16% revenue growth in the March quarter, though supply constraints on advanced chips remain a near-term headwind.
Memory cost inflation is another factor to watch. Apple acknowledged that it will have a modest impact on March-quarter gross margins.
The company said it has a range of options to manage this, though it didn’t give specifics.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Apple Stock
Loop Capital’s $325 price target implies more than 50% upside from current levels.
That’s a bold call, but it reflects confidence in Apple’s ability to expand its addressable market with lower-priced hardware while continuing to grow its high-margin services business.

Apple stock is attractively priced relative to its recent highs.
For long-term investors, the combination of a record installed base, growing services revenue and new product categories like the MacBook Neo makes the current pullback worth watching closely.
