What Happened?
Dover (DOV) stock climbed after the company reported a strong Q1 earnings beat, and BofA Securities raised its price target to $274 from $240 while keeping a Buy rating.
The headline number that got Wall Street’s attention was bookings.
- Dover reported $2.5 billion in new orders during Q1 — up 24% year-over-year. That’s a sharp acceleration from the 10% growth seen in the prior quarter.
- The book-to-bill ratio hit 1.2, meaning Dover is taking in more orders than it’s shipping. Every single segment was above 1.0.
- Q1 adjusted EPS came in at $2.28, a penny above expectations.
- Revenue hit $2.05 billion, topping the $2 billion estimate.
- Dover maintained its full-year guidance but made clear it’s targeting the top end of the range.
- The strongest performer was the Climate & Sustainability Technologies segment, which posted 15% organic growth.
- Heat exchangers were the standout, driven by surging demand for liquid cooling systems in data centers.
- CO2 refrigeration systems also continued to grow as more retailers shifted away from legacy technologies.
- Management said the liquid cooling opportunity is still early, with data center demand showing no signs of slowing.
CEO Rich Tobin was characteristically direct on the call. He said the strength in bookings isn’t driven by customers stockpiling ahead of tariff concerns — it’s genuine demand outpacing supply.
In some product categories, Dover is already booking orders into Q3 because Q2 capacity is essentially full.

BofA raised its price target on the back of a higher 2027 earnings estimate, reflecting confidence in Dover’s capacity-expansion investments and restructuring savings.
The firm projects $40 million in cost savings from restructuring programs this year, which should drive meaningful margin improvement in the second half.
Dover stock has a long history of returning cash to shareholders. The company has raised its dividend for 55 consecutive years — a remarkable track record that signals financial stability and discipline.
