Key Takeaways

  • Stellantis shares jumped 14% after third-quarter revenue of €37.6 billion beat consensus and it stood by its 2026 guidance.
  • Holding the line earns the bounce, though the 2027 cash flow promise isn’t new.
  • Europe lost money, and Stellantis still has no Canadian labor deal, while General Motors and Ford settled theirs this summer.
  • Full-year results in late February are the next test.

Stellantis (STLA) stock is up 14% today after the carmaker beat on revenue and stood by its outlook, including what CEO Antonio Filosa called “our expectation of positive Industrial Free Cash Flow in 2027.” Stellantis has guided to that since February, but investors were happy to hear it again.

General Motors (GM) and Ford Motor (F) barely moved, which is interesting, since they face the same U.S. tariffs and commodity bill heading into 2027.

What exactly happened

  • Revenue: €37.6 billion, up 1% on 1% fewer shipments, against a €35.9 billion consensus.
  • Adjusted operating income: €256 million, a 0.7% margin, up from €90 million.
  • North America: €64 million of adjusted operating income, after a €475 million loss.
  • Industrial free cash flow: negative €4.0 billion, €0.3 billion better than a year ago.

In dollars, revenue fell from $190 billion in 2023 to $154 billion in 2025, and analysts see only $170 billion by 2028…

Europe is the problem now

Enlarged Europe swung to a €311 million loss, against a €157 million profit a year ago.

That matters, because free cash flow swung from $11.3 billion in 2022 to negative $12.6 billion in 2025…

Stellantis cut third-quarter capital spending by €0.5 billion.

Canada is still unsettled

Ford’s Canadian workers ratified a new Unifor contract in July and GM’s in August.

Stellantis’s talks have been at an impasse since Sept. 11 over its plan to sell its idled Brampton plant, and members handed Unifor a strike mandate on Oct. 19.

Commodities are the shared problem. Stellantis expects them to stay a headwind in 2027, and GM’s CFO has sized his company’s at roughly $2 billion.

The stock still isn’t priced for a comeback

Stellantis traded at 4.1x forward earnings at Tuesday’s close, about its five-year average of 4.3x and half the 8.2x it hit a year ago. Today’s jump takes it only a little higher…

My take: Holding guidance through tariffs, a Canadian standoff and a loss in Europe earns Stellantis this bounce. But I’d want Europe back in the black and a Unifor deal signed before calling this the bottom.

The real test is full-year results in late February, when Stellantis has to put numbers behind 2027.
