What Happened?
Boeing (BA) shares fell about 10% after its Q3 report. Revenue beat estimates, but the loss was wider than expected.
Boeing stock also took a hit from news that the 737 Max ramp-up will take longer.
- The adjusted loss was 34 cents per share, while analysts expected a loss of 20 cents.
- Revenue rose 4% to $24.19 billion, just below the $24.37 billion estimate.
The loss is much smaller than last year, though. Boeing posted a net loss of $116 million, or 26 cents a share.
A year earlier, the loss was $5.34 billion, which included a nearly $5 billion charge on the 777X program.
Defense revenue jumped 15% to $7.94 billion and free cash flow rose to $464 million from $238 million a year ago.

The commercial business was weaker. Revenue fell 3% to $10.72 billion, and the operating margin was negative 6.5%.
Boeing blamed a less favorable delivery mix, higher costs tied to future production rate changes and higher supply chain costs.
It delivered 161 planes, one more than last year.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Boeing Stock
The main worry is the 737 Max. Boeing now makes about 47 a month. It is targeting 52 a month in the second half of 2027.
CEO Kelly Ortberg said wing production is moving slower than expected.
This matters because most of a plane’s price is paid on delivery. Boeing also said 737 deliveries will fall short of its 500 target this year.
Ortberg said, “we’re going to do it right,” and that expectations are rising.
There is good news too.
- The U.S. Navy picked Boeing to build its next-generation fighter jet.
- The FAA also approved the 737 Max 10 last week, after approving the 737 Max 7 earlier.
- Boeing’s backlog sits at a record $745 billion.
Management also gave a cash flow path.
It expects about $2 billion of free cash flow in 2026. That should reach about $3 billion in 2027, $6 billion in 2028 and $10 billion in 2029. For Boeing stock, that gives investors a clearer long-term picture.

The path will take time, though.
Wing output needs to stabilize first, and the 777X still needs more flight testing. Investors will likely watch whether Boeing stock can recover as production steadies.
