What Happened?

SoFi Technologies (SOFI) shares jumped 13.4% after its Q3 report, the stock’s biggest one-day gain since April 9, 2025.

  • Revenue rose 43% to $1.37 billion vs. estimates of $1.26 billion.
  • Net income rose 73% to $241 million.
  • Adjusted EPS was $0.18 against expectations of $0.17.

Lending revenue was $807 million, well above the $711 million analysts expected.

Total loan originations rose 71% to a record $16.9 billion, and personal loan originations rose 69% to $12.6 billion. Student loan originations nearly doubled to $2.9 billion while home loan originations rose 44%.

Credit looked steady. CEO Anthony Noto said, “We are not seeing evidence of a slowdown” in borrowing, spending, saving, or investing.

Financial services revenue rose 25% to $525 million.

The technology platform was the weak spot as revenue fell 24% to $87 million because a large client left.

What the Market Is Telling Us About SoFi Stock

SoFi stock had fallen about 50% from its peak a year ago before this report and also dealt with a short seller attack and valuation worries this year.

Rising rates were a concern, too, as Noto said borrowing costs rose more than management expected.

Even so, revenue growth sped up, and management said the business can grow well in high or low rate environments.

Management also gave early 2027 targets. It expects revenue of $6.4 billion, up 27%, with adjusted EPS of $0.90, which it says can be funded without raising new capital.

Members grew 35% to 17.1 million, and products grew 44% to 26.7 million. Each member now uses about 1.56 products, up from 1.47 a year ago.

Some analysts liked what they saw, and Mizuho’s Dan Dolev called the report “pristine.”

There are still things to watch. SoFi has taken on more balance sheet risk by holding more loans. Management also said SoFi Plus growth was below plan in the quarter.

For SoFi stock, the test is whether growth and credit quality hold up. SoFi stock still has ground to recover from last year’s peak.
