Key Takeaways
- Absci fell 8% today as AI drug discovery peers Schrödinger and Recursion slid in a Nasdaq sell-off.
- These stocks trade together on sentiment, so the drop says little about Absci’s business.
- Certara fell far less, a sign investors sold the pipeline-driven names hardest.
- Absci’s next test is proof-of-concept data for its hair-loss drug ABS-201, due by the end of 2026.
Absci (ABSI) fell 8% today, and it had company: Schrödinger (SDGR) dropped 10% and Recursion Pharmaceuticals (RXRX) lost 5% as tech stocks sold off, with the Nasdaq down big. None of the three put out news.
All three rallied together on Wednesday. Today, they gave it back. That’s a signal – sorry, I don’t make the rules.
They rise together, and they fall together
When three companies with different drugs move 9% or more the same way twice in one week, investors are trading the theme.
Certara’s smaller drop suggests they dumped the pipeline-driven names hardest. Its software revenue grew 4% in the second quarter, to $48.8 million, and software bookings rose 9%. Its report next week will show whether that demand is holding.
Schrödinger fits less neatly: its revenue grew 23% in 2025, to $255.9 million, yet it fell almost as hard as Absci. Its third-quarter report comes after the close on Nov. 4.
Recursion’s next catalyst comes sooner: it hosts a webinar on updated REC-4881 data on Tuesday, Nov. 3, less than three weeks after selling $200 million of new stock.

Nothing changed at Absci
Analysts expect Absci’s revenue to stay small, rising from $2.8 million in 2025 to $26.6 million in 2028:

So investors price the stock on ABS-201 and the mood around AI drug discovery. It traded at 242x forward sales at Thursday’s close, its highest in a year and nearly three times its 87x average:

Absci expects proof-of-concept data for ABS-201, its hair-loss drug, in the second half of 2026.
It had $201 million of cash and short-term investments at June 30, up from $126 million at March 31:

That’s plenty to reach the readout. A stock sale after strong data wouldn’t surprise me, though: Recursion paired its own clinical updates with one this month.
Wait for the data
At more than 200x forward sales, investors are already paying for a lot of success at ABS-201, so I’d wait for the data before buying this dip. Of course, strong results could make today’s price look cheap in a hurry.
