What Happened?

Monolithic Power Systems Inc. stock rose about 5% this week, recently trading near $1,633 per share as investors continued to pay up for one of the cleaner AI infrastructure stories in the analog semiconductor market. MPWR makes power-management chips and modules that help AI servers, optical networking equipment, cars, and industrial systems deliver electricity more efficiently, putting it in comparison with Vicor, Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, ON Semiconductor, and Power Integrations.

The stock moved higher this week because Vicor raised its Q2 revenue outlook from $126 million to $142 million, giving investors a fresh signal that AI data-center power demand remains strong. The update lifted several power-chip names, and MPWR rose 7.6% during the session as investors connected the news to rising demand for advanced power-management chips used in AI servers, optical networking systems, and data-center infrastructure.

MPWR’s own Q1 earnings call also gave the rally more substance. The company reported record quarterly revenue of $804 million, up 7% sequentially and 26% year over year, while Communications revenue grew 33% sequentially on strength in optical modules and switches. Management raised the expected Enterprise Data growth floor to around 85% year over year as backlog visibility improved, and CEO Michael Hsing summed up the design-win momentum by saying, “we keep winning.”

Analyst and ownership updates helped frame the move. KeyBanc raised its MPWR price target to $2,000 from $1,500 after the Q1 update, while other recent analyst updates continued to point to strong Wall Street interest in the company’s AI infrastructure exposure. Recent filings were mixed, with Legal & General trimming its stake by 0.5% and Swedbank cutting its position by 5.2%, while ABN Amro Investment Solutions increased its stake by 336.6%, reinforcing the idea that investors are still debating valuation after a sharp rally but remain focused on MPWR’s AI infrastructure growth story.

Is MPWR Undervalued?

Under valuation assumptions, the stock is modeled using:

  • Revenue Growth (CAGR): 23%
  • Operating Margins: 38%
  • Exit P/E Multiple: 48x

MPWR appears undervalued under this model, but the setup depends on the company proving that AI power-management demand can stay strong after a sharp rally.

Revenue is expected to grow from about $3.7 billion in 2026 to about $7.3 billion by 2030, which means the market is already pricing MPWR as one of the cleaner ways to play AI infrastructure spending beyond GPUs.

Enterprise Data is the key lever because AI servers need more advanced power-management content as rack power density rises, and MPWR’s recent results show this demand is already showing up in revenue rather than staying as a future promise.

Margins matter almost as much as growth because a 48x exit multiple only works if MPWR keeps expanding higher-value silicon solutions without letting capacity expansion, inventory, or customer mix pressure profitability.

Based on these inputs, the model estimates a target price of around $2,070 by 2029, implying about 27% total upside over the model period, suggesting Monolithic Power Systems looks undervalued, with 2026 performance likely driven by Enterprise Data growth, Q2 guidance follow-through, Communications strength, automotive recovery, and continued AI infrastructure spending.
