What Happened?
MongoDB (MDB) shares fell 22.2% on March 3, closing at $253. The drop followed the company’s fiscal Q4 results, where earnings beat estimates but forward guidance disappointed investors.
Reuters reported that investors focused on weaker growth in MongoDB’s cloud database business and a muted outlook. That matters because Atlas, MongoDB’s managed cloud offering, is a key growth engine and a major driver of sentiment around long-term expansion.

MongoDB reported Q4 revenue of $695.1 million, up 27% year over year, and adjusted EPS of $1.65. Those results came in above consensus expectations, but the stock still sold off because the market was focused on what comes next.
Investors will get more company commentary soon. MongoDB’s CEO and CFO are scheduled to present at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on March 4, and the company is expected to report fiscal year 2026 results on March 5.

What the Market Is Telling Us About MDB Stock
The sharp decline suggests investors are repricing MongoDB amid a reset in growth expectations. Even strong headline beats did not offset concern that near-term growth may slow, especially in the cloud segment.
The move also highlights how sensitive high-growth software stocks can be to guidance. When expectations are elevated, even small forecast changes can drive outsized price moves. That appears to be what happened here based on the reaction to MongoDB’s outlook.

At the same time, Wall Street analysts still have high long-term targets for the stock. Analysts forecast a street target price of $442 and a target price of $444 over the next 2.9 years, which is a 75.9% potential total return or 21.4% annualized return.
