Why Liquidia Stock Crashed 57% on Wednesday’s Patent Ruling Against Yutrepia

Liquidia (LQDA) stock crashed 57% on Wednesday, September 30, after a Delaware court ruled that Yutrepia infringes two valid claims of United Therapeutics’ ‘327 patent. Those claims cover treating pulmonary hypertension with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) using inhaled treprostinil, and the court struck down the rest.

United Therapeutics (UTHR) wants an injunction restricting Yutrepia’s availability, with a proposed judgment due within a week. Liquidia will ask the FDA to drop PH-ILD from the label and will appeal.

Raymond James analyst Ryan Deschner said the court’s denial of Liquidia’s motion to strike ownership evidence carried “negative readthrough to the final decision on the case.” It did. Liquidia stock now trades at $30, priced for a harsh remedy before any judge has written one.

A 17% annual return follows a 57% single-session collapse, which puts the $59 target far above where the ruling left the price.

TIKR’s consensus numbers support the $59 because no injunction exists yet and Liquidia has an appeal and a label fix already lined up.

A $59 target against a $30 stock is a 95% gap. See the full Liquidia model on TIKR for free →
