What Happened?
Bloom Energy (BE) stock reversed course sharply after the company posted its first-ever $1 billion quarter and raised its full-year outlook across the board.
Shares had been down 11% during the day but jumped 11.8% after hours once the earnings call wrapped up.
The quarter itself was a record. Revenue hit $1.065 billion, up 166% from a year ago and 42% higher than the prior quarter.
Product revenue made up nearly 90% of that total, growing 215% year-over-year. Gross margin expanded to 34.3%, with product margin at 37.2% and service margin reaching 22%, marking the fifth straight quarter of double-digit service margins.
Operating income jumped to $240 million, up 737% from last year, pushing operating margin to 22.5%. Adjusted EBITDA came in at $253 million, roughly 24% of revenue.
The company generated $226 million in cash from operations and ended the quarter with $2.7 billion in cash on hand.
Management raised full-year revenue guidance to a range of $3.9 billion to $4.2 billion, representing 100% growth over last year at the midpoint.
Full-year operating income guidance jumped to $800 million to $900 million, a big step up from the original $425 million to $450 million guide at the start of the year.
CEO K.R. Sridhar spent much of the call emphasizing that Bloom Energy is not capacity constrained or gated by its supply chain, a rare claim among AI infrastructure companies these days.
He pointed to a fivefold expansion of Bloom’s financing partnership with Brookfield, now worth $25 billion, along with a $2.6 billion commitment from other financial partners including Oaktree, MUFG Bank, and Morgan Stanley.

Sridhar also highlighted the economics behind why customers choose Bloom, noting that a one-gigawatt data center can generate between $12 billion and $24 billion in annual revenue for its operator, so delivering power faster than competitors translates directly into billions in value for customers.
He also addressed reliability concerns directly, pointing to the swing from a negative 21% service gross margin at the company’s 2018 IPO to a positive 22% service margin today.
On supply chain worries, particularly around scandium, management said Bloom has visibility into supply for 25 gigawatts of planned deployments and is not dependent on China for the material.
