What Happened?
Tesla (TSLA) saw new car registrations rise in several European markets in September. Registrations are a good proxy for sales.
Here is how the numbers looked compared with a year ago:
- France: up 61.9%
- Sweden: up 38.4%
- Norway: up 2.2%
The data came from PFA in France, OFV in Norway and Mobility Sweden. It was released on Thursday.
This adds to a wider recovery. Tesla’s sales in Europe fell for two years.
Now they are climbing again. From January to August, Tesla registrations across the EU, Britain and the EFTA region rose 43.3%.
The overall battery-electric car market grew 38.8% over the same period. So Tesla grew a bit faster than the market.

Reuters pointed to a few reasons for the rebound. Year-ago comparisons are easier.
Fuel prices are higher. Governments are offering incentives. More buyers are also showing interest in electric cars.
Britain and Germany are Europe’s two biggest car markets. Their September numbers are due later this week. They will show whether the recovery is picking up speed.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Tesla Stock
Strong European numbers help the story for Tesla stock. Europe had been a weak spot for two years. Better registrations suggest demand is coming back.
The Q2 report points the same way. Tesla delivered a record number of cars for Q2. Sales grew from the previous quarter in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe by 60%, 27%, and 12%.
The company also ended Q2 with its largest order backlog since 2023.

Still, Tesla stock faces some pressure.
Automotive margins, excluding regulatory credits, fell from 19.2% to 16.3% in Q2.
Free cash flow was negative. Capital spending is expected to top $25 billion this year.
Management also said supply chain limits could hold back production growth.
So the picture is mixed. Demand looks better, and that is good for Tesla stock. But heavy spending and thinner margins remain in focus.
This week’s UK and German data could shape how investors read the latest sales trend.
