- Q2 revenue rose 18% to $1.18 billion, but the Q3 guide of $1.19 billion to $1.21 billion implies 13% to 15% growth.
- A new CFO, Amazon’s James Dibbo, starts October 26.

Pinterest (PINS) stock has lost 17.5% since early January, closing at $21.91 on October 16. Its worst day of the year came on February 13, when a fourth-quarter miss and a soft first-quarter outlook sent shares down 16.8%.
The past five weeks run the other way. Pinterest stock hit a late-summer low close of $18.28 on September 9 and has climbed 19.9% since, by my math, even after a 3.52% drop on October 16. Wall Street hasn’t moved with it: the mean analyst target was $29.05 on September 30, and it’s $29.05 now.
Pinterest Stock Hit Bottom on February 13
The slide started before earnings and included a January 27 plan to cut just under 15% of the workforce. Pinterest stock closed at $18.54 on February 12, already down 28.4% from its $25.89 year-end close.
Then came the Q4 report. Revenue of $1.319 billion missed the $1.329 billion LSEG consensus. The Q1 guide of $951 million to $971 million landed below the $981 million analysts expected. Stifel tied weak spending by large U.S. and Canadian retailers to tariff pressure. Pinterest stock closed at $15.42 on February 13, down 40.4% for the year in six weeks.
Elliott’s $1 Billion Bet and a Softer Q3 Guide
On March 3, Pinterest announced a $1 billion investment from Elliott in convertible notes with an initial conversion price of about $22.72 a share, funding a buyback inside a new $3.5 billion program. Pinterest stock rose 9.3% that day, climbed back above $22 by early May and reached the mid-$25s by early August.
Q2 then sent mixed signals. Revenue rose 18% to $1.18 billion, with U.S. and Canada growth accelerating five points to 18%. But the Q3 guide of $1.19 billion to $1.21 billion implied 13% to 15% growth, and the stock slipped to the low $23s.
Monetization is still the gap. “We 5x the number of clicks to advertisers over that last 3-year period, but we certainly didn’t 5x the revenue,” CEO Bill Ready said on the Q2 2026 earnings call.
PINS Gave Back the Summer, Then Took Some of It Back
After the close on August 28, Pinterest disclosed that CFO Julia Donnelly would step down. Pinterest stock fell 6.4% to $21.71 on August 31 and kept sliding to that $18.28 close on September 9.
October reversed most of it. The stock climbed 20.2% from $18.89 on September 30 to $22.71 on October 15. During that rally, Pinterest announced James Dibbo’s appointment as CFO on October 5.
Holds Now Outnumber Buys on Pinterest

The current split is 17 Buys, 2 Outperforms and 19 Holds, against 29 Buys and 6 Holds a year ago. The $29.05 mean hasn’t moved since September 30 while the stock gained 16%, so its gap to the close shrank from 53.8% to 32.6%. Separately, 35 analysts publish a price target, and the lowest, $22, sits just 0.4% above the close. The rally did the work the targets didn’t.
Two Ways to Read Pinterest Stock’s October Bounce
The bull read: U.S. and Canada revenue grew 18% in Q2, and management raised its 2026 adjusted EBITDA margin outlook to about 30% from 29%. On October 26, James Dibbo, who ran finance for Amazon’s ads and Prime Video businesses, takes over as CFO.
The bear read: Q3 growth of 13% to 15% follows 18% in Q2, Europe faces its toughest comparison of the year, and Holds lead the ratings.
U.S. and Canada growth is one important test. Holding near Q2’s 18% would support the recovery thesis. A slowdown would warrant scrutiny, but investors should also assess companywide revenue against the $1.19 billion to $1.21 billion guide and the approximately 30% full-year adjusted EBITDA margin outlook.
