What Happened?
Oklo (OKLO) stock jumped almost 12% on Tuesday, closing just above $44, as renewed trade tension between the U.S. and Canada stirred up worries about uranium supply.
That tension lifted advanced-nuclear stocks broadly, and Oklo was one of the biggest movers. The jump added roughly $850 million to the company’s market cap, with trading volume coming in about 11% above its recent average.
The trigger here was political, not business news. Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Canada could lean on exports like electricity, oil, nickel, uranium, and potash if the trade dispute worsens, though he was clear this wasn’t an actual export directive.
At the same time, Ottawa rolled out retaliatory tariffs on about $20 billion worth of U.S. imports. None of this changes Oklo’s customer backlog or its cash position right now, but it does touch a nerve for the company because fuel access matters a lot to its business model.
Oklo’s Aurora reactors depend on advanced fuels, and the company has said it wants to grow into fuel-cycle and isotope operations. Its recent filings even flag risks tied to securing materials like high-assay low-enriched uranium, plutonium, and recycled fuel. So a headline about uranium leverage, even a soft one, tends to move Oklo stock more than it might move other names.
On the operational side, Oklo has real progress to point to. Its Groves low-power test reactor reached first criticality on August 5, less than a year after construction started.
That made it the first privately sited reactor in the Department of Energy’s demonstration program to hit that milestone. CEO Jacob DeWitte called it “an incredible milestone” for the team, and the reactor is designed to support future commercial isotope production.

The company also has a strong cash position. As of June 30, Oklo held $3.01 billion in cash and marketable securities, boosted by $1.85 billion raised through stock offerings in the first half of the year.
Spending is high too. Operating cash outflow hit $65.5 million in the first half, and the company expects that to reach $120 million to $150 million for all of 2026, with property and equipment spending projected between $400 million and $500 million.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Oklo Stock
Wall Street remains upbeat but far from unified on where Oklo stock should trade.
Analysts carry a Buy-heavy consensus of 15 buys, 9 holds, and just 1 sell. The average price target sits at $79.88, implying about 80% upside, while the median target is $81.50.
That said, the spread between targets is enormous, ranging from just $14 to $130, showing how much disagreement exists over how to value the company.
At Tuesday’s close, Oklo stock traded at roughly 2.7 times its June cash balance, without factoring in any value from its reactor projects or future isotope revenue.
That gap suggests investors are pricing in significant future potential rather than current earnings, since Oklo’s commercial reactors haven’t generated operating income yet.

Whether this rally holds may depend on how the uranium situation plays out.
If it fades as just political posturing, attention will likely shift back to Oklo’s reactor progress and how efficiently it can turn its large cash pile into working assets.
