What Happened?

Lambda is raising up to $4 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. Lambda is a cloud-computing company backed by Nvidia (NVDA).

Reuters passed along the report, which cites people familiar with the matter.

The round values Lambda at $14.5 billion before the new money. It would be the last round before an IPO. Blackstone and Coatue Management are leading the deal.

Lambda is aiming to go public in 2027, which depends on execution and market conditions, according to a letter to its limited partners.

The same letter shows how fast Lambda is growing.

Its backlog of unfilled orders rose to $50 billion in September. That is up from $15 billion in June.

Lambda did not respond to a request for comment.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Nvidia Stock

For Nvidia stock, this signals strong demand outside the big cloud companies. Lambda is the kind of customer Nvidia calls a neocloud.

On its latest call, Nvidia said this group is growing fast. Revenue from this business segment hit $40 billion last quarter. That is up 138% from a year ago.

Nvidia expects neoclouds to end the year with 8 gigawatts of capacity, up from about 3 gigawatts at the end of 2025.

Nvidia’s own numbers are huge. Revenue was $96 billion last quarter, more than double last year. The company guided to $108 billion for this quarter. It expects about 70% growth next fiscal year.

Management said supply, not demand, is the limit. CEO Jensen Huang said demand is “much higher” than what Nvidia can ship. That is a key point for Nvidia stock.

There are risks too.

Nvidia expects gross margins to drop to 71% to 72% by Q4. It blamed rising memory costs.

Nvidia stock also faces questions about whether its investments in customers are too circular. Management says it sees it differently.
