What Happened?

Meta (META) stock jumped 4.5% on Thursday after Mark Zuckerberg showed off new hardware at Meta’s annual Connect conference.

The headline product was the Muse Charm, a small handheld gadget that works with Meta’s new Muse AI agent.

Users press a fingerprint sensor and talk to their agent without unlocking a phone or opening an app.

Zuckerberg didn’t share a price. He said Meta plans to ship it in time for the December holidays.

Meta also revealed the Meta VR Glasses. They’re slimmer and lighter than the older Quest headsets.

They track your eyes and hands, so you won’t need controllers as often.

An external puck holds a Qualcomm processor and the battery, which keeps the glasses small.

The catch is price. The glasses will cost $1,299 when they launch in spring 2027. Meta’s last VR device, the Quest 3S, sold for $299.

Meta also introduced $349 Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses without cameras. It said there will be over 100 styles of AI glasses by the end of 2026.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Meta Stock

Investors are treating this as a big deal. Meta stock has climbed more than 25% since Muse launched earlier this month. The app also passed ChatGPT to reach the top of Apple’s App Store.

The hardware push matters because Meta wants to depend less on Apple to reach users.

Glasses are already working. In Q2, Reality Labs revenue rose 16% to $431 million, driven by strong AI glasses sales.

Mizuho, which rates the stock a buy, thinks Meta’s AI progress will keep pushing the stock’s valuation higher.

There are risks. Amazon has blocked Muse from shopping on its site. Meta’s monetization plan is still early. It expects to take a small fee on transactions made through Muse.

Spending is also heavy. Meta expects up to $145 billion in capital spending this year.

Free cash flow was just $784 million in Q2.

Still, the core business is strong. Q2 revenue grew 28% to $60.8 billion. For now, the market is betting that Muse and new devices can make Meta a real AI winner.
