Why Datadog Stock Jumped 7% on Confirmation Growth Is Broadening

Datadog (DDOG) stock climbed 7% on Tuesday, September 9, 2026, closing at $225, up from the prior session’s $210. The move traces to comments Datadog’s own leadership made one day earlier, not to any single new headline crossing the wire that morning.

Speaking with Citi analyst Fatima Boolani at the bank’s Global TMT Conference on September 8, CEO and founder Olivier Pomel confirmed that the growth acceleration Datadog reported last quarter was not confined to AI-native accounts. “What’s especially exciting to us is that this acceleration happens throughout the customer base,” Pomel said, adding that growth among non-AI-native customers had picked up from 18% year over year a year earlier into the high 20s. That distinction answers the exact question the market had been asking since August.

Datadog stock had spent five weeks working back from a steep drop. Shares fell 19% on August 6 after management disclosed on the second-quarter call that its largest customer, widely believed to be OpenAI, would cut platform usage starting in the third quarter. That single-customer scare hit even after Datadog beat estimates with $1.12 billion in quarterly revenue, up 35.6% year over year, and adjusted earnings of $0.65 a share against a $0.59 estimate. Pomel’s broad-based growth comments on September 8 are what closed part of the gap that scare opened.

The advance also stood out against what the rest of the market did that day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Russell 2000 both fell on September 9 as Brent crude pushed past $101 a barrel on Middle East tensions, yet Datadog stock ranked among the session’s strongest gainers anyway. That divergence supports a company-specific re-rating over a ride on broader risk appetite.

A customer-concentration scare fading and a growth story confirmed live on stage is what turned Tuesday into a re-rating instead of a bounce.

Datadog Stock’s Mean Target Jumps to $285 After the August Reset

Wall Street carries 31 buy ratings, 10 outperforms, 4 holds, 1 underperform and 1 sell on Datadog stock as of September 9. Separately, 46 analysts publish a price target, and their mean sits at $285, putting Datadog stock’s fair value 27% above Tuesday’s close of $225.

That gap is new. As recently as June 30, 2026, Datadog stock closed at $260, above the Street’s own mean target of $242 at the time, a Target/Close ratio of 93% that flagged the stock as fully priced relative to consensus. Analysts did not pull back after that reading. They raised the mean target by $43 over the following quarter while the price fell to $225, restoring real distance between the stock and where the Street values the business.

That pattern, price falling while targets climbed, is the clearest evidence the correction was about one customer’s usage curve rather than the broader thesis Pomel reiterated at Citi. Coverage has held at 46 estimates since June, so the repricing came from conviction, not from analysts dropping the name.

TIKR’s Model Puts Datadog Stock’s Fair Value at $746 by 2030

TIKR’s mid case model values Datadog stock at $746 by December 2030, implying a 231% total return from the current price of $225, or 32% annualized over the next 4.3 years.

A 32% annualized return over more than four years sits well above what a slow-growing, already-profitable software franchise usually commands, and it prices Datadog stock as a business still early in a multiyear buildout rather than one settling into maturity.

DDOG Stock P/E (TIKR)

That framing matches where the market already has the stock. Datadog stock trades at 16x forward sales, above its two-year mean of 14x but still seven turns below the 23x peak the multiple hit in August, so Tuesday’s move re-rated the stock without pushing it back to where investors priced it at the height of the AI enthusiasm.

That framing lines up with what Pomel described at Citi: a company still holding just 13% to 14% share of its own market, with growth broadening well past the AI-native cohort that dominated headlines in August. The model’s $746 target also sits far above the Street’s own $285 mean, so even after Tuesday’s move, TIKR sees Datadog stock working from a wide base of unclaimed share rather than a name that already reflects its opportunity.

TIKR’s model sees Datadog stock at $746 by 2030, a return the current price barely reflects yet. Explore DDOG stock’s full valuation model on TIKR for free →
