What Happened?

Fermi (FRMI) stock jumped 17% last Friday, and the move looks tied to real progress on the ground at Project Matador.

The company announced that three Siemens SGT6-5000F natural gas turbines have arrived at the Port of Houston and are now headed to the project site near Amarillo, Texas.

This matters because it’s tangible proof that Fermi’s power buildout is moving from paper plans to physical equipment showing up on-site.

These three turbines alone are rated at up to 780 megawatts in simple-cycle mode. That’s a meaningful chunk of generating capacity getting closer to actually being installed and running.

Management also said site work is already underway to receive the turbines, and phase one construction with the company’s existing partners is moving forward at the same time.

For a project like this, seeing equipment physically arrive is a bigger deal than another announcement or update, since it shows the buildout is real and on track.

Adding to the good news, Fermi closed a $431.25 million convertible notes offering earlier in July, bringing in roughly $416.81 million in net proceeds.

That gives the company more cash on hand to keep funding construction, which likely helped support today’s move in Fermi stock as well.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Fermi Stock

Investors have been watching closely to see whether Fermi can actually deliver on its ambitious power project, and today’s turbine arrival is a clear signal that things are progressing.

Combining fresh equipment on-site with a recently strengthened balance sheet gives investors two reasons to feel more confident at once.

Fermi stock reacting positively to both pieces of news together suggests the market is rewarding visible execution, not just plans or promises.

FRMI Stock Street Target (TIKR)

Project Matador is central to Fermi’s strategy of building large-scale, private power capacity to support AI-driven data center demand.

Turbines showing up on-site is a concrete milestone that shows this strategy is moving forward, which is likely why Fermi stock is seeing such a strong reaction today.
