What Happened?
Citi raised its AMD (AMD) price target to $800 from $575 on Tuesday. That is about 25% above where shares traded before the open. Analyst Atif Malik made the call.
His reasoning is simple. Citi now expects the CPU market to grow from $29 billion in 2025 to $300 billion in 2030.
He still sees AMD as the key winner. He sees Intel as a secondary one.
The spark is Muse, Meta’s personal AI agent. Per CNBC, Muse and OpenAI’s agent, Dots, both run on AMD’s EPYC server chips.
Morgan Stanley estimates Muse could make up 20% of AMD’s 2026 chip sales.

What the Market Is Telling Us About AMD Stock
For AMD stock, the message is that CPUs are back in the AI story. AMD has mostly been seen as an Nvidia chaser in GPUs. Agents give it a new angle.
The numbers back this up. Data center revenue more than doubled to $6.7 billion last quarter. AMD expects server CPU revenue to grow more than 80% in the second half of 2026. It expects more than 70% growth in 2027.
Supply is the limit. CEO Lisa Su said demand is “even higher than our supply.” Analysts expect earnings per share to rise from $4.17 last year to $7.59 this year. They see $15.72 in 2027.
Still, AMD stock is not cheap. It trades at 57.1 times forward earnings. The five-year average is 34.4 times. The stock has nearly tripled this year and is worth over $1 trillion.
Competition is real too. AMD holds about 46% of the x86 CPU market, per Mercury Research. Intel’s stock is up 21% in the past month.
Nvidia has an agent-focused CPU called Vera. Many cloud providers are building their own chips.
Citi’s $300 billion forecast is also the highest of the three. Nvidia estimates $200 billion, while AMD projects $220 billion.
