What Happened?

Wayfair (W) stock’s underlying business showed real momentum this quarter.

  • Revenue grew 7.5% to $3.52 billion, surpassing the estimate of $3.47 billion, with the U.S. business leading the way at nearly 9% growth, the strongest the company has seen since before the pandemic.
  • Adjusted EPS stood at $0.95 as against the estimate of $0.92.
  • Orders were up 6% overall, and compared to Q1, orders jumped more than 12%, the best sequential Q2 growth since 2020.

CEO Niraj Shah pointed to that order momentum as proof the company’s “share capture” strategy is working. Active customers grew 3.3% to 21.7 million, and repeat customers still made up over 80% of total orders, showing the business isn’t just adding new shoppers but keeping the ones it already has.

Two smaller parts of the business stood out. Wayfair’s specialty retail brands grew nearly 20% in the quarter, and Perigold, the company’s luxury home platform, grew more than 35%.

Perigold now generates a bit over $400 million a year in sales, still small next to Wayfair’s overall size, but growing fast and doing so profitably.

The company also highlighted using AI to cut the cost of producing luxury product imagery, an area it says will keep expanding.

Profitability improved noticeably too. Operating income came in at $104 million, up sharply from just $17 million in the same quarter last year.

International revenue was the one soft spot, falling 1.3% as Canada and the U.K. continued to see pressured consumer spending. Mobile also kept gaining ground, now making up 64.1% of orders delivered, up from 62.9% a year earlier.

For the first six months of 2026, net revenue totaled $6.45 billion, up from $6 billion last year, and income from operations flipped to a $93 million profit from a $105 million loss in the first half of 2025, a meaningful turnaround for the business.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Wayfair Stock

The numbers suggest Wayfair stock is benefiting from a genuine improvement in the U.S. home goods market, not just easier comparisons.

Management said this marked the first quarter of flat-to-slightly positive category growth in the U.S. since 2021, though that growth is skewed toward higher-income shoppers.

W Stock Valuation Model (TIKR)

The strength in Perigold and specialty brands shows Wayfair is capturing share from wealthier customers who kept spending even as the broader market stayed sluggish.

With operating income swinging so far into positive territory and orders accelerating, the market seems to be reading this quarter as a sign that Wayfair’s post-pandemic recovery is gaining real traction rather than just stabilizing.
