What Happened?

Wix (WIX) stock jumped after the company blew past both earnings and revenue expectations. The earnings beat was the real headline here: adjusted EPS of $1.39 came in much more than what analysts were looking for, a much bigger surprise than the modest revenue beat.

That gap suggests the quarter wasn’t just about sales growth; it was also about better cost control and early profitability gains from Wix’s AI push.

Revenue grew 15% year-over-year to $563.1 million, with self-creators revenue up 14% and partner revenue up 17%. Bookings grew a slower 12%, which management tied to changes happening in its partner ecosystem as more professionals shift toward AI-powered tools.

  • The bigger story is what’s happening with Base44, Wix’s app-building platform that lets users create software just by describing what they want.
  • The company introduced Base1, its own proprietary AI model, and it’s already paying off.
  • Base44’s gross margin is expected to hit roughly 60% in the second half of this year, up from near zero at the start of 2026.
  • CEO Avishai Abrahami called Base1’s launch a major milestone, saying it gives Wix more control over quality and cost, and that every user interaction keeps improving the model rather than benefiting an outside AI vendor.

Overall non-GAAP gross margin came in at 67% for the quarter, still down 3 percentage points from a year ago due to heavy AI investment, but the company expects margins to improve by about 2 percentage points in the back half of the year.

Wix plans to reinvest those savings straight into sales and marketing to keep pushing for growth in Base44. President Nir Zohar said the company’s priority is to “aggressively capture Base44 market share” while the opportunity is still growing.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Wix Stock

The pop in Wix stock shows investors are encouraged that AI investments are starting to translate into real margin improvement, not just top-line growth.

A 15% earnings beat is hard to ignore, and the news that Base44 margins jumped from essentially zero to 60% in under a year is a meaningful proof point for the company’s AI strategy.

WIX Stock Valuation Model (TIKR)

That said, the move was solid but not explosive, and Wix stock remains far below its 52-week high of $190.93, showing the market still wants more evidence before fully buying into the turnaround story.

With sales and marketing spending set to stay elevated and bookings growth trailing revenue, investors will likely keep watching closely to see whether this momentum holds.
