What Happened?
Marvell Technology (MRVL) closed at $228.51 on October 23, 2026, just below the lowest of the 43 Wall Street price targets TIKR tracks. That low is $229.95, and the mean is $341.44. A day earlier, the stock fell 8.70% as chip stocks sold off on two worries: AI spending after Meta Platforms’ (META) earnings, and a supply warning from chip equipment maker Lam Research (LRCX).
The PHLX Semiconductor Index fell 6.72% that day, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Arm Holdings (ARM) dropped 8.10% and 7.28%, so Marvell moved with the group rather than on company news.

Marvell’s COO Says the Supply for Its $20 Billion Year Is Reserved
At its October 6 Investor Day, President and Chief Operating Officer Chris Koopmans said Marvell gives key suppliers five-year forecasts and, as the last step, makes “a capital investment for capacity reservation.” On fiscal 2028, which ends in January 2028 and which management sizes at about $20 billion in revenue, he said: “We got all the demand and the supply I need to hit the $20 billion next year.” That is management’s claim, not booked revenue, though Marvell’s annual report confirms capacity reservation agreements with foundry and test and assembly suppliers lasting four to 10 years.
On October 22, Marvell also replaced its $1.5 billion revolving credit facility, due in June 2030, with a five-year, $3 billion facility that can grow by $2 billion, per its 8-K filing. No loans were outstanding, and the filing names working capital and general corporate purposes as uses.
The Cash Hasn’t Caught Up Yet
TIKR data shows Marvell’s free cash flow missed Wall Street’s estimate in each of the last five quarters, while revenue beat in four. In fiscal Q2 2027, reported August 27, free cash flow was $478.8 million against an estimate of about $644 million. Operating cash flow was $605.5 million against about $732 million expected, while capital spending of $126.7 million matched estimates.

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Dan Durn’s long-term model calls for “a free cash flow margin of greater than 36% over time.” Analysts tracked by TIKR expect about 22% for fiscal 2027. TIKR’s data does not show how much of the shortfall reflects capacity payments.

TIKR Advanced Model Analysis
- Current Price: $228.51
- Target Price (Mid): ~$1,710
- Potential Total Return: ~650%
- Annualized IRR: ~60% / year

The TIKR model’s mid case targets around $1,710 by January 31, 2031, about 60% a year from $228.51. That is roughly five times the Street’s mean target, so it is a scenario, not a forecast. TIKR’s consensus puts fiscal 2028 revenue near $19.7 billion, close to the $20 billion Koopmans says supply covers.
Management’s long-term plan leans on interconnect and custom chips for most of its fiscal 2031 revenue, with a 44% to 46% operating margin target. The stock already carries a premium: at about 40 times NTM earnings, Marvell costs more than twice Broadcom (AVGO) at about 19 times and Nvidia (NVDA) at about 17 times.
The primary risk is that cash keeps trailing revenue. If cash conversion catches up, the case strengthens; if growth slows while capacity is prepaid, that multiple leaves room to fall.
Free Cash Flow Is the Number to Watch
Marvell is scheduled to appear at the AI Networking Summit in New York on October 28 and 29, but the bigger test is its fiscal third-quarter report, which had not been scheduled as of October 26; last year’s came on December 2. Revenue against the $3.15 billion guidance midpoint matters less than cash. A sixth straight free cash flow miss would say capacity spending still outruns the revenue it secures, while a beat would back Koopmans.
