Alphabet (GOOGL) just landed a new way to put Gemini in front of people without a phone or a browser. On October 16, Geely Holding Group, the parent of Geely Automobile (GELHY), announced a global partnership with Google to build Gemini, Google Maps and Google Play into eligible overseas models from Geely, Lynk & Co, Proton, Riddara and smart.

The first car is due in the second half of 2027, subject to approvals and market readiness. It covers only markets where Google services are available, which rules out China, and the rollout also leaves out the U.S.

Geely’s Export Ramp Is the Real Number

Google already sits in Volvo and Polestar dashboards. What’s new is the rest of the portfolio. Geely Auto exported 420,097 vehicles in 2025, and in August it raised its 2026 export goal to 920,000. Geely Holding targets 6.5 million sales by 2030, with more than a third outside China. That’s over 2.17 million overseas sales a year groupwide, but neither company has said how many will qualify.

General Motors (GM) is rolling Gemini out to about 4 million existing U.S. vehicles. Geely could add to that installed base as eligible models reach supported markets from the second half of 2027.

What Google Hasn’t Said About the Geely Deal

GOOGL Stock Google Subscriptions Platforms and Devices Revenues (TIKR)

Google Play revenue sits in Google Subscriptions, Platforms and Devices, which brought in $12.91 billion in Q2 2026, up 15% from a year earlier.

Neither company disclosed terms, so the open question is how Google gets paid: Play commissions, Gemini subscriptions, or Maps placements on the dashboard. Against a line running at about $52 billion a year, the deal can’t be sized until volumes are public too. The near-term value is placement: Gemini built into eligible cars, no download needed. With Alphabet stock up almost 50% since last October, investors will want more than reach. If management sizes automotive on the October 28 Q3 call, that’s the first sign this channel pays.
