What Happened?
Eli Lilly (LLY) stock is drawing fresh attention today after Guggenheim raised its price target to $1,284 from $1,273 and maintained a Buy rating.
Eli Lilly currently has a market cap of $1.03 trillion. Guggenheim updated its model based on prescription trends, average selling price estimates, currency adjustments, and the news that Zepbound will return to CVS’s formulary starting October 1.
The firm sees the U.S. tirzepatide business, which includes both Mounjaro and Zepbound, staying strong.
Guggenheim’s prescription-based forecasts for 2027 and 2028 point to continued growth for both drugs, even though the firm expects mid- to high-single-digit price declines each year through the end of 2028.
Guggenheim also raised its outlook for Foundayo, Lilly’s oral drug.
Although the firm lowered its price assumption for the 2.5mg dose for the rest of this year, it raised its 2027 estimate to $1.8 billion from $1.2 billion and its 2028 estimate to $3.7 billion from $2.4 billion. That increase reflects an improving launch trajectory for the drug.
Guggenheim’s 2026 revenue estimate of $89.2 billion sits above Lilly’s guidance range of $85 billion to $87 billion and above the Street’s estimate of $88.3 billion.
The firm says it’s looking forward to learning more at the upcoming EASD meeting about the broader potential of retatrutide and eloralintide, especially when combined with tirzepatide.
Other analysts have echoed this bullish tone recently.
Berenberg upgraded Eli Lilly stock from Hold to Buy and raised its price target to $1,400, citing strong returns on investment and growth in the obesity treatment market.
BMO Capital reiterated its Outperform rating with a $1,400 price target, expecting Foundayo’s approval in type 2 diabetes to add further revenue growth.
Foundayo has already brought in roughly $100 million in sales during Q2 of 2026.

Separately, Lilly also announced a partnership with Twist Bioscience to strengthen its AI and machine learning drug discovery platform, TuneLab, with Twist providing antibody characterization data services to help speed up development.
