What Happened?
Accenture (ACN) just made a bold statement about its own stock. The company announced a $2 billion increase to its fiscal 2026 share repurchase program, pushing the total planned buybacks to $7.5 billion.
That’s a 62% jump over last year. All repurchases are set to be completed by August 31, 2026.
The move came just after Accenture’s Q3 earnings report, where
- The company posted revenue of $18.7 billion, up 6% in dollar terms.
- Diluted EPS grew 9% to $3.80.
- Free cash flow for the quarter hit $3.6 billion.
- The numbers were solid, but management wanted to go further.

Accenture Chair and CEO Julie Sweet maintains: “We do not believe our current share price reflects that position or the strength of our business fundamentals.”

What the Market Is Telling Us About Accenture Stock
When a company spends $7.5 billion buying back its own shares, it’s sending a clear message. Leadership believes the stock is cheap. That kind of conviction from the inside is worth paying attention to.
- Year-to-date, Accenture has already returned $8.2 billion to shareholders through buybacks and dividends.
- Including this latest increase, total planned shareholder returns for the full fiscal year are expected to reach $11.5 billion — up more than 38% over the prior year.
Accenture is also investing heavily in AI-driven services and made a series of acquisitions this year, with total acquisition spend now expected to reach approximately $9 billion.
The company is betting on growth while simultaneously returning cash at a record pace.

For investors watching Accenture stock, the combination of strong cash generation, rising buybacks, and AI momentum provides a concrete foundation for the bull case.
The question is whether the market catches up to what management already believes.
