MongoDB Stock’s Q2 Earnings Silence the EA-Cannibalizes-Atlas Debate

MongoDB (MDB) delivered its fastest revenue growth since fiscal 2024 in the second quarter of fiscal 2027. Total revenue landed at $771.8 million, up 30 percent from a year earlier and roughly 5 percent above the $734.4 million Street estimate. Adjusted EPS of $1.90 beat the $1.61 estimate by 18 percent and nearly doubled the $1.00 MongoDB posted in the year-ago quarter.
Atlas, MongoDB’s cloud database, grew approximately 29 percent year over year for a fifth straight quarter, adding a record $127 million in net new dollars and pushing the business to an annualized run rate near $2.3 billion. That consistency matters because it came alongside an even sharper move in Enterprise Advanced (EA), MongoDB’s self-managed database product: EA and other revenue jumped 36 percent year over year, the fastest EA growth in three years, after MongoDB shipped Search and Vector Search capabilities inside EA at the end of June. EA annual recurring revenue, which strips out the timing noise from multiyear deals, grew 11 percent year over year for a third straight quarter of double-digit growth.
That combination raised an obvious question on the call: was EA’s surge simply pulling workloads away from Atlas? CEO CJ Desai addressed it directly on MongoDB’s Q2 earnings call: “I want to be very clear that the growth of EA self-managed MongoDB is not coming at expense of Atlas.” He pointed to Atlas’s own record net-new dollar quarter and to customers like a major U.S. bank now running Search and Vector Search inside their existing governed EA environment as proof the two businesses are expanding side by side, not trading share.
Profitability moved just as fast as revenue. Non-GAAP operating margin reached 24 percent, up from 15 percent a year ago, while gross margin expanded to 75.9 percent as EA’s higher-margin mix widened. MongoDB added a record 2,900 net new customers, lifting its total to 70,600, and remaining performance obligations climbed 91 percent to $1.52 billion. Free cash flow more than doubled to $137.6 million from $69.9 million.
Management responded by raising the outlook on both fronts. Full-year fiscal 2027 revenue guidance now sits at $2.99 billion to $3.03 billion, or 21 to 23 percent growth, with Atlas growth raised to approximately 27 percent and EA’s full-year growth outlook lifted to roughly 11 percent from a prior mid-single-digit forecast. It marks the first time in three years EA is projected to grow at a double-digit rate for a full fiscal year.
TIKR Values MDB Stock at $820, Pricing In Sustained Dual-Engine Growth
TIKR’s mid-case model values MongoDB stock at $820 by January 2031, implying an 89% total return from the current price of $434, or 16 percent annualized over 4.4 years.

That return profile places MongoDB stock among the more return-dense growth names in the model’s coverage, driven less by multiple expansion than by the operating leverage already visible in the fiscal 2027 guide.
The path to $820 leans on the same dynamics that showed up in the second quarter: Atlas growth holding near 29 percent alongside EA’s move into double-digit growth, both feeding an operating margin that expanded nine percentage points year over year. With EA now selling AI-ready Search and Vector Search into its own governed environments and Atlas continuing to land the largest enterprise accounts, MongoDB stock has two growth engines pointed in the same direction, which is exactly what the TIKR model assumes holds through 2031.
