What Happened?

CoreWeave (CRWV) stock is up 5% this week after it lost 25% last week.

The Neocloud company’s $50 billion in debt sparked a crisis of confidence, which set off a wider selloff across AI and tech stocks.

Goldman Sachs helped the bounce and upgraded CoreWeave to “buy” from “neutral.” The firm said tight computing capacity and CoreWeave’s performance edge over rival neoclouds should lift annual recurring revenue per megawatt over the next two years.

It called the recent drop a buying opportunity.

Bond investors also calmed a bit. The yield on CoreWeave’s 2031 bond fell to 15.13% and was above 16% last week.

The AI trade stumbled after a hot inflation reading raised bets on rate hikes, which worried investors about heavily indebted AI firms facing higher borrowing costs.

Other AI names bounced too on Monday. Nebius rose 3.4%, Applied Digital gained 8.5%, and IREN gained 5%, while Micron rose 4.2%.

Still, Thomas Hayes of Great Hill Capital called it a possible “dead cat bounce.” He said the bond market is skeptical about financing this without higher yields.
