What Happened?
Workers at Micron Technology (MU) in Taoyuan, Taiwan, plan to strike on Thursday. Their union says the move is meant to back a separate union at Micron’s Taichung operations.
That group is in talks with the company over employee bonuses, and a mediation meeting is set for the same day.
The Taoyuan union wants Micron to put forward a concrete profit-sharing plan, while saying it wants to show its determination to build a fair system.
It did not say how long the strike would last and more details are due on Thursday.
This matters because Taiwan is one of Micron’s most important manufacturing hubs. The site makes DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips.
These are key parts in AI servers. Micron employs about 15,000 people in Taiwan and has invested more than T$1.6 trillion ($49 billion) there.

The dispute has been building. Mediation with the Taoyuan union ended without a deal in September. Members approved a strike in early October.
The Taichung union represents workers at Micron’s largest Taiwan operation. It is still negotiating and has not voted on a strike.
Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te urged both sides last week to negotiate “sincerely.”

What the Market Is Telling Us About Micron Stock
For Micron stock, the main question is whether a strike could disrupt supply. Memory is already tight, and management said it does not see when supply and demand will return to balance.
The business is very strong right now. Fiscal Q4 revenue hit $54.2 billion, while gross margin was 87%.
Micron guided to $61.5 billion in revenue next quarter, and over 75% of its 2027 output is already committed.
Bonuses are also part of Micron’s own story as it raised incentive pay for every global team member in fiscal Q4.
That added to operating expenses. Management said fiscal 2027 will carry higher incentive pay too.

The source does not say how long the strike will last or how much output it could affect. So the impact on Micron stock is hard to judge today.
Investors in Micron stock will watch Thursday’s mediation meeting. They will also watch whether the Taichung union votes to strike.
Any news on those two points could move Micron stock.
