Key Takeaways
- Roper Technologies shares jumped 9.2% today after third-quarter adjusted EPS of $5.89 beat the $5.79 consensus and the company raised its full-year guidance.
- The stock rose while the Nasdaq-100 fell more than 2%, and the new guidance range starts above the $22.22 analysts expected for 2026.
- Adjusted net earnings grew just 5%, so buybacks did much of the work behind 15% adjusted EPS growth.
- Roper’s forward P/E was 17x before today, well below its five-year average of 26x.
Roper Technologies (ROP) shares are up 9.2% today after a third-quarter earnings beat and a higher full-year outlook.
It did that with the Nasdaq-100 down more than 2% this morning. It’s also Roper’s second guidance raise in three months, after the stock climbed about 5% on July’s increase.
A Beat and a Raise
Roper reported before Thursday’s open:
- Revenue rose 8% to $2.17 billion, with 7% organic growth (roughly in line with consensus).
- Adjusted EPS rose 15% to $5.89, ahead of the $5.79 consensus.
- Full-year adjusted EPS guidance went up to $22.35 to $22.40, from $22.15 to $22.30.
CEO Neil Hunn tied the raise to the quarter: “Driven by third quarter adjusted DEPS that exceeded our expectations, we are raising our full year adjusted DEPS guidance.”
Roper Passed the Whole Beat Through
Coming into today, analysts expected $22.22 a share for 2026, the next step after $16.71 in 2023, $18.31 in 2024 and $20.00 in 2025.

Roper beat the midpoint of its own quarterly guidance by about $0.12, then lifted the full-year midpoint by $0.15. The new range starts above $22.22, so that estimate should move up. Small numbers, all pointing the right way.
Buybacks Did Much of the Work
Adjusted net earnings grew just 5%, to $586 million. The rest came from a diluted share count down 8% to 99.4 million, helped by $2.7 billion of buybacks this year. The adjusted EBITDA margin also slipped to 39.8% from 40.2%, and Hunn said on the earnings call that Neptune “continues to face subdued meter market conditions.”
Why Roper Stock Had Room to Run
Roper stock was down about 11% this year before today on fears that AI could undercut vertical software. That left it at 17x forward earnings, against a five-year average of 26x.

Even after today’s jump, it’s around 18x. The lower valuation may have helped amplify investors’ response to the $0.10 earnings beat and higher full-year guidance. The next check is fourth-quarter guidance of $5.95 to $6.00, against a $5.92 consensus, when Roper reports early next year.
