Key Takeaways

  • BETA Technologies stock rose 33% in a week after a third-quarter beat and a raised 2026 revenue range, as rival Joby Aviation raised its own outlook.
  • BETA still expects a $400-445 million adjusted EBITDA loss this year, and its delayed H500A engine has no new certification date.
  • This year looks solid, but 2027 needs certified aircraft, so BETA stays a speculative buy.

BETA Technologies (BETA) stock is up 33% in the past week on a third-quarter report that cleared its own guidance easily.

Rival Joby Aviation (JOBY) raised its outlook the same week.

The quarter blew past its own guidance

BETA reported before the open on Nov. 3:

  • Revenue of $17.7 million, up 98% and well ahead of the $10.77 million analysts expected
  • A 2026 revenue range of $52-57 million, up from $42-50 million and above the $46.9 million consensus

Even the bottom of the new range tops consensus.

Joby beat too on Nov. 4, raising its 2026 revenue outlook to $135-140 million on demand at Blade, its charter business. But Joby now expects FAA pilots to begin flying its aircraft for credit in the first half of 2027. Its stock is up 23% for the week, on a raise that says more about charters than about its air taxi.

Revenue’s up, and so are the losses

BETA’s adjusted EBITDA loss widened to $97.4 million in the quarter, from $67.6 million a year before. And it kept its full-year loss guidance at $400-445 million. Its H500A engine missed its first-half certification target, with no new date. Cash and equivalents stood at $1.34 billion on Sept. 30. That’s about two and a half years at the quarter’s pace of losses and capex. So I wouldn’t rule out a stock sale.

The 2027 bet hasn’t changed

The quarter backs up the speculative case for BETA, but 2027 is the bigger bet:

Analysts’ $362 million for 2027 is more than six times BETA’s new 2026 range, and it needs certified aircraft. The quarter gives them no reason to cut it, but no reason to expect certification sooner, either.

At Thursday’s close, BETA traded at 87x forward sales, under its 117x average since listing and well above May’s 64x low:

Friday’s jump took it to about 98x, above the 93x it carried before the report. The Street’s $32 average target is 16% above Friday’s close.

So yes, the raised outlook is that good, for 2026. I’d still keep BETA a small, speculative position until the H500A is certified. A firm date with fourth-quarter results early next year would help.
