Why Figure Technology Stock Jumped 14% Four Days After Earnings

Figure Technology Solutions (FIGR) stock jumped 14% on Monday, August 17, closing at $36, as buyers finally caught up to a second-quarter print the market had shrugged off days earlier.

The company reported results before the opening bell on August 13 that beat consensus on revenue and swung profitability sharply higher. Net revenue rose 113% year over year to $225.59 million, ahead of the $207.70 million consensus from eight analysts. Net income more than doubled to $87.44 million, and diluted earnings per share climbed to $0.35 from $0.08 a year earlier. Consumer loan marketplace volume, the dollar value of loans Figure’s blockchain-based platform matches between originators and buyers, reached $4.26 billion, up 132% year over year and above the top of management’s own guidance range.

Shares traded higher the day of the release, then gave that back. Figure Technology stock slipped 1.4% the following session as investors zeroed in on take rate, the cut of loan volume Figure keeps as revenue, which came in at 3.6%, the low end of management’s guided range. CFO Minchung Kgil told analysts the metric reflects mix shift toward Figure Connect, the company’s lowest-margin but most capital-light channel, not price cuts, and that the low end of the range should hold into the third quarter.

CEO Michael Tannenbaum gave the Street something to chew on past the take rate story. “Application volumes on our platform surpass[ed] $1 billion per week for the first time in early July,” he told analysts, a sign growth carried into the current quarter rather than stalling. Paired with third-quarter guidance for consumer loan marketplace volume of $4.8 billion to $5.2 billion, that comment gave investors something concrete to underwrite over the weekend.

The explanation took a few days to land. Needham’s Kyle Peterson reiterated a Buy rating and $55 target in the days after the print, and Figure Technology stock carried unusually heavy options activity into Monday’s session, with trading volume in the name running well ahead of open interest. The combination pushed the stock up 14% in a single session, its sharpest move since the print itself.

The rally does not change what happened in the quarter. It changes when the market decided to pay for it.

Wall Street Still Sees 44% Upside in Figure Technology Stock

Seven analysts cover Figure Technology stock, split 3 buys, 3 outperforms and 1 underperform, with no holds on the books. The mean target sits at $52, 44% above Monday’s $36 close.

Analysts did not chase the stock down earlier this year. The close fell from $41 in December to $31 by the end of June, and over that stretch the mean target rose from $50 to $55, pushing implied upside as high as 80%. That relationship reversed once Figure Technology stock’s 14% Monday jump landed on top of an already recovering price. The mean target eased to $52, the first pullback in the table’s history, even after a quarter that beat revenue estimates by 9%.

Coverage held steady at seven analysts through the print, and the underperform rating that showed up in the first quarter never rolled off. The Street bid up the stock’s floor through the first half of 2026 but is not chasing Monday’s spike with a higher ceiling.

TIKR Values Figure Technology Stock at $39, Far Below the Street

TIKR’s mid-case model values Figure Technology stock at $39 by the end of 2031, implying 10% total return from the current price of $36, or 2% annualized over 5.4 years.

That is a muted result for a company that just posted 113% revenue growth and a 55% adjusted EBITDA margin, and it puts Figure Technology stock closer to a bond-like return profile than a growth marketplace’s.

The gap traces back to Monday’s rally itself. Even after the Street trimmed its own mean target to $52, that figure still sits 44% above TIKR’s $39 case, and the distance reflects the take rate compression management flagged for the third quarter, the same dynamic that kept the stock flat for four days after a beat. Figure Technology stock’s 14% jump closed much of the space between price and a model built for a lower take rate holding through 2031.

TIKR’s model sees Figure Technology stock returning just 2% a year through 2031, even after Monday’s pop. Stress-test the assumptions. Run FIGR stock scenarios on TIKR for free →
